Studying the Old Testament is essential for understanding the foundation of the Bible, God’s character, and His redemptive plan through Jesus. It provides wisdom for life, historical context for the New Testament, and powerful examples of faith, prophecy, and worship.

in the old testament you see the fury of God and the fear of God. In the new testament we learn of his grace and sacrifice.
The old testament also lays the foundation for Jesus and Jesus uses the old testament fundamentals in his teachings.

The Old Testament is full of instruction. It introduces us to GOD in all HIS perfection, from creation to the promise to Abraham, to family disfunction and trials. IT highlights the character of GOD. Furthermore, it speaks of us, with poetry, teachers, prophets, warriors and so much more.
In short it is the foundation of our faith. It is imperative to know and understand where we came from to understand where we are going and why.

The Old Testament tells us about Jesus Christ. We cannot fully know about Christ and His purpose for coming into our world without studying the Old Testament.

You would not fully appreciate the grace of God and His sacrifice . You would also miss the 300 prophecies in the old testament that Jesus fulfilled. The nuances of how Jesus broke Jewish law to teach God’s true law, and how this lead into the Easter story, would be lost as well. Also, in the Old Testament, God gave the Jewish people opportunities to correct their behaviour and turn back toward Him, but time and time again they fell short, or were only able to return their love to Him for a period of time. So with this knowledge of the Old Testament, it will give a better understanding of why Jesus sacrifice was so critical, unexpected, and incredible in order to reconcile man to God.

If we do not know something, then how can we learn? If we are not exposed and taught; them how would we learn? Eliminate the Old Testament is to say that the beginning of things in not important. We would not be able to fully grasp GOD with only part of the story.

The Old Testament is the foundation for the New Testament, providing the historical context, prophecies and themes that Jesus and early Christian built upon . Old Testament also provides God’s character and the birth of Jesus
