I am guilty for I am not doing enough. After hearing this.

I strive to be an administrator who emphasizes redemption in my classroom, though I recognize I can always grow in my awareness of this aspect of teaching. I often remind both myself and my students that my purpose is to “Set you up to succeed.” This statement speaks not only to their academic success but also to their restored relationship with God when they fall short. There is always space for repentance, as the goal of discipline is to restore a right relationship with God and foster a heart transformation, not just a change in behavior.

I am human so, no, I am not a teacher of redemption all the time. I make an effort to welcome students back in to the classroom after they have misbehaved and let them know I still accept them. Each day is a fresh start; God forgives and forgets their mistakes once they repent, and so should I.

I can usually move on and start anew the next day, but there have been times when it is hard to let go of student behavior or I can be more harsh than necessary. I think it would be good for me to verbalize redemption more often – that we all fall short, and that Christ offers forgiveness to each of us.

Yes, I try to be a teacher of redemption. I always talk about the 2nd coming of our Lord and that we all must be prepared. We talk about sin and how to work towards eternal life.
