Why is it important that we teach our students strategies for discernment?

With the many voices out there that our students encounter, they need to have strategies and a guide to discerning what is God’s truth and the world’s truth.

It is key because the ultimate goal is to bring them to Christ and not lose them to the world. They need to see God’s perspective and what they stand to gain compared to the world’s perspective and what it has to offer.

We need to teach discernment so that our students can think about biblical principles and concepts for themselves. When they have a question, they can think what the Bible says about the question.

It is important to teach our students strategies for discernment because it will better equip them to navigate difficult situations, make decisions, and help them to find and know what is true.

Just as it is important to teach them how to compare and contrast, strategies for discernment is a requirement to sustain the truth our students acquire in the years ahead. It is also a divine instruction from our God in 2 Timothy 2:15
