Christian Learning Center Forums Discussion Forum J. P. Moreland said, “The New Testament writers say, ‘These things were not done in a corner [Acts 26:26], they were done in public, and you know,’ they say to their audience, ‘that these things really happened.’ Why that is so important is this, when it comes to the New Testament, the miracles of Jesus are actually signs that He was who He claimed to be. Jesus repeatedly said, ‘Don’t believe Me because of my words. Don’t believe Me because I say I’m a prophet from God or that I’m His Son. Believe Me because the signs I do simply can’t be explained if I’m simply a man.’ ” What would be the significance of miracles done publicly instead of privately?

By being done publicly there would be many witnesses. It wouldn’t be on the testimony of one person healed, but of many who witnessed all that He did.

Miracles performed in public allowed all to see and share with others to be informed. If they were done in privately, others would have a difficult time believing impossible occurrence.

Miracles done privately would be edifying only to those who saw them done or, perhaps, heard about them later. Public miracles were open and transparent to everyone who saw them done. Jesus never tried to intimate or hide the fact that, indeed, He and God were one.

The Public doing would be so that not only the disciples belief but that others watching may see and also spread the word that he was who he said he was,The Son Of God.

Jesus shows who he is through his miraculous miracles The miracles were done in public, so people who saw them could believe in him to the Son of God. It also shows that he was not just a man but he and the Father God were one.
