Lesson Overview
Not only were the first disciples dramatically changed but so was one of their worst enemies. Paul was transformed from a killer of Christians into one of their chief advocates (Galatians 1:11-24). Why did this radical change take place in Paul’s life? This lesson will explore why the Christian faith has the power to change lives.
Lesson Objectives
When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:
- Recognize spiritual activities in the early church in Jerusalem and its vital witness to the community.
- Cite key Bible verses on evangelism, persecution, and the Holy Spirit.
- Understand the various ministries of the Holy Spirit by reading The Promise of the Spirit.
Personal Reflection
As you proceed through this lesson have the following question in mind.
In his book The Variety of Religious Experiences, author and philosopher William James shows how different faith systems produce their own personal experiences. If this is so, what makes life changes affected by the Christian faith unique?
