If you have a leader dominating the discussion and having all the answers to life’s problems, there may or be a second meeting. The leader will discourage all the members and destroy fellowship.

The negative is that the leader might discourage the team not to come up with solution on their own.

This leaves little room for the Holy Spirit to guide the group in ways that go beyond the leader’s understanding. Leaders also need to encourage and equip others to grow and reach their own potential, but when the leader constantly swoops in, it doesn’t make space for others to contribute in ways that will help them grow.

Total dependency is never a good thing. Individuals must learn to think for themselves and play to their personal strengths. No man is an island and nobody ever has all of the answers. At that point, one is no longer a leader but a dictator. Trying to be a know it all is discouraging to the others that you work side by side with and makes others feel inferior. That is no way to model leadership. It isn’t humble but proud. Pride ultimately leads to destruction (Proverbs 16:18) and nobody wants to not be allowed to have growing room in which they can further develop their gifts and talents. Also, having a very narrowly focused set of answers from just one person often causes the group to dismiss or overlook a better solution to the issue at hand. All ideas are valid in the group effort. Therefore, everyone should be allowed to contribute to finding solutions.

The group is not active if the leader is providing the only means of support. Groups which are not functional end with many unresolved issues.
