The four gospel authors have different personal backgrounds and therefore each write to a different audience with a different goal. These differences make each gospel have a different focus and language, although they all have the same message that Jesus is the Messiah that came to save us from our sins.

Because each writer has a different perspective of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each one saw things in their own way.

Matthew and John had firsthand experience with Jesus. They walked and talked with him, ate with him, and witnessed his life upon this earth. They were disciples and then apostles. They are also writing to different audiences. Their references to Old Testament concepts for Jews or general information for a general audience are evident. Luke and Mark had a different perspective because their audiences were Greeks and Romans. They were also trained and taught by the eyewitnesses, though they were not in Jesus’ close circle themselves.

Each gospel was written by a different person and for a different audience. Each author has their own style of writing and a different perspective on situations.
