I’ve always read them through the eyes of David, since he wrote so many, and have really focused on trying to put myself in his shoes. I have also looked at them more as praises than as poetry. This course is appealing to me because it seems I will gain new perspective.

My view on studying the Psalms is that I could pray the same prayers of those penned in the Psalms, because sometimes I face similar situations as those experienced by David or any other writers in that Book.

I viewed Psalms as poetry written mainly by King David, with lovely passages and wonderful lessons. Earlier in my Christian walk, I was encouraged to receive the gift of speaking in tongues (by my bishop) through reading the Psalms. I went to bed that night and awoke at about 3am speaking in tongues! Hallelujah!

As we study the Psalms, we find so much good we never realized was written there. Interesting! It was a nice book with a lot of good information and poetry from a large family of writers lead by the Holy Spirit and the Heavenly Father.

That it was a huge volume of psalms written to see God in different ways from the prospective of the writer.
To also show me the heart of the writer to God.
