The purpose of this course is to give ourselves a flow of how the Old Testament fits together. What might be a benefit that would result from learning this?

The benefit would be understanding who God is and his love for his people.

Even just listening to the first lecture has helped me to see how the Old Testament books fit together and are broken down by themed groups. I knew that partially, but did not realize that the end of the content of history recorded in the OT actually finishes part way throught the books themselves. Knowing that fact will help me understand the content better.

It gives us a structure to work with. Knowing that it is arranged by genre, rather than chronologically helps give important context as we continue to study and gain knowledge of scripture.

The Old Testament is all the “scripture” that Jesus had in his lifetime. And it is the scaffolding and foundation we need to understand Jesus’ death on the cross in it fullness and depth.
