It is Jeremiah’s sadness over the destruction of his people. We do lament when there is separation from God in our lives.

It demonstrates Jeremiah’s intense anguish over the people of God. It gives us an image of how sin corrupts and destroys us.

It is about Jeremiah’s lament over the destruction of Jerusalem. Life is filled with great sorry and grief…it is a part of how sin has affected us and separated us from God, who fulfills all of our desires and needs.

Lamentations was given a title that expresses the “lamenting,” or great sorrow, that Jeremiah expressed after Jerusalem was destroyed.
