Deleted User10/27/2024 at 20:04The requirements from God to be a successful king was to seek Him wholeheartedly, obey Him, His commandments, and have his heart devoted to Him. This is where both Saul and Solomon fell down at different points during their reign, which ultimately led to their fall from God’s grace. I can see how this request from God applies to us today.

Saul pursued his own fame and glory, Solomon pursued women and riches — both pursuits ultimately led them to loss of vitality in their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual lives. The same is true for us.
