Yes, only through godly mentors can see truly see where our errors sometimes lie and how to overcome them.

It is very important to have a godly mentor. We cannot have it all, even if we are old christian. we can also be blinded by some circumstances, unless the Holy Spirit leads us.

I have had a couple of mentors in my life for other things such as career and sports, But not for spiritual guidance. I’ve certainly looked up to many people in my church but not with a mentor type relationship. I do see the importance though

I now understand the urgency. My mentor, whom I thank God for daily, helped me to overcome obstacles in my life using a godly point of view. I always tried to do things my way and never let God take control.

Yes, most definitely. In the 5 years following Oct 1993 it was the support of older and more mature Christians, and the Discipleship which they offered which saw me through some of the most difficult and challenging seasons of repentance and growth I have ever experienced.

I don’t like the term “mentor” and feel it is yet another import from the secular world. Until fairly recently terms such as “Discipleship” or “Spiritual Fathers” (or Mothers) sufficed, and seem to resonate far more closely with Scripture.

Whilst, yes, I wholeheartedly understand, and buy into the concept of Spiritual Direction, as a Christian man, the issue is finding other Christian Men, who are willing to commit to such relationships, and who do not feel threatened by the levels of honesty such relationships require, is a major barrier to establishing such relationships. Most Christian men in my experience run a mile at the suggestion of these levels of accountability.
