How do you react when you see a person who embodies holiness in the way described in this lecture?

I’ve known a few people that embody Jesus and it always inspires me to dig deeper into God’s word. To be a little kinder, gentler, more patient with others.

I feel inspired, and I want to be like them.

It fills me with hope! Determination! Happiness!

This gives me hope, to know that all things are possible in Christ Jesus. I thank God that we all have an opportunity to grow closer to God!!!

Sadly, I have seen little evidence of such people, other than in the pages of the books they have left. I think of men like A W Tozer, John Newton, a few others, men who knew God in a way few if any seem to, certainly in my lifetime. On the odd occasion there have been people I have encountered I have encountered, who talked a good talk, and who I genuinely hoped would turn out to be the “genuine article” only to be disappointed as time after time they compromised their integrity. I have grown up in a world where there are so few examples. I have little hope that there will be others who have the mantle of Tozer or Edwards, but maybe……
