Because the church is the Body of Christ, He alone with His early disciples instituted the church Himself on the grounds of Christian faith and obedience.

Because the bible clearly states that Jesu is the head of the church.

The Bible clearly states that Jesus Christ is the head of the church in Ephesians 5:23 and Colossian 1:18. In addition, the Pope is merely a human. He is not God in the form of a person. The Pope is fallible and must repent of his own sins in order to be saved. Thus, he is ineligible to be the true head of the church.
