Dr. Groothuis pointed out that the universe shows signs of design at the macroscopic level, precise fine-tuning, beauty, and the hand of God in biological organisms. The fossil record does not support Darwin’s slow, gradual, incremental evolution theory. The fossil record shows that Darwin’s “tree of life” didn’t exist. Darwin himself said that the fossil record would eventually confirm his theory, but gaps and problems have only increased with an increased knowledge of the fossil record. DNA contains detailed information for the construction and preservation of organisms. Bill Gates said that DNA is like a computer program but is far more advanced than any software ever created. All of these arguments highlight the weaknesses of Darwinism and point to God as the creator of the heavens and the earth.

Darwinism does not fully explain the reason for change in DNA. While micro-evolution is apparent, it does NOT negate anything within the bible.

Lack of Fossil Evidence for Transitional Forms: Another criticism Groothuis highlights is the relative lack of fossil evidence for so-called “transitional forms”—species that show gradual change from one major group to another. Although some transitional fossils have been found, Groothuis believes the record is incomplete and does not sufficiently support Darwinian claims of gradual, incremental evolution over time.
Moral and Philosophical Implications: From a philosophical standpoint, Groothuis is concerned about Darwinism’s moral implications. He argues that if humans are simply the product of unguided evolutionary processes, this undermines the notion of inherent human dignity and moral responsibility, which are central to theistic worldviews. Darwinism, in his view, offers no foundation for objective morality.
Intelligence and Consciousness: Groothuis also questions how Darwinism accounts for the emergence of human intelligence, consciousness, and rationality. He argues that a purely materialistic evolutionary process cannot adequately explain the existence of these non-material aspects of human nature. This critique underscores the profound complexity of human beings, suggesting that Darwinism falls short in addressing this depth.

The weakness of Darwinism is that there was no time stamp to prove his theories.

Darwin left room for his theory to be disproved if a complex organism existed without numerous shifts, like the biological motor. Groothuis also raises the fact that the fossil record is not providing more evidence to fill the gaps, the evidence from paleontology that there are long periods of no change and then a sudden emergence is unexplained, and Darwinism cannot answer the Cambrian explosion.
