What eastern gurus, swamis, yogis, master teach is that God is everything and we can find God within ourselves. Some people say that Jesus is like all the other eastern gurus; He found God in himself and he is just teaching us how to do the same. This idea is contrary to what the Bible teaches and what Jesus teaches in the Bible: 1.) God was distinct from the world. 2.) We are separated from God by sin. 3.) Emphasized and displayed prayer of our needs and concerns and worship to God. 4.) Placed a heavy emphasis on history, God’s working with the Jews and how He fulfilled prophecies.

A guru teaches that God is in everything including within people. Jesus taught that God is a separate entity, separate from humans due to our sins. As Christians, we express our need for God to God.

Jesus was a monotheist who believed we have been separated from God by sin, and required salvation. He did not preach that everyone can unlock the God within themselves and that he was enlightened as such.

Jesus did not teach that God was everything or that man can find God in himself. Instead, Jesus believed in only one God and taught that God is distinct from man. He taught us to pray to and worship God, not some light within ourselves.
