While David’s reign was flawed in a variety of ways, he is often considered a model king. In comparison with most of the kings who followed him, he is a model king. For all his faults, David was faithful in ways that many later kings were not. So throughout the book of 1 Kings we hear echoes of language from 1 Samuel that describes David in a positive way. In this exercise you’ll connect passages in 1 Kings with the passages they echo in 2 Samuel.
