Are you currently involved in any type of sports ministry? If so, how do you see yourself implementing any of the four key success principles described by Colin Pinkney (Preparation, Engagement, Persistence, Patience)? How could you improve your implementation of any of these? I am not currently involved in sports ministry but I would love to continually engage with my players, coaches, and families. I hope that I can be intentional in reaching out to them and meeting their needs

Yes, I am involved in two types: I am a coach at a Christian school during fall, winter and spring (and summer prep) and I am a coach with the local church's sports ministry program for kids.
All four areas are essential, and are reminders to be be on top of each area to be successful. I see "engagement" as key, though, because it seems for me relationships are the area that affect all other areas, so I pray for the kids, pray for the assistant coaches on my staff and pray that God would give me wisdom to know what to say and that He would speak through me. Listening to Colin Pinkney helps remind me to be aware and be more intentional in these four areas. (as a footnote, I believe the improvement would come in being more focused on each area, as opposed to just one area, and that comes through thinking through each area, writing down objectives/goals and implementing them during the season).

I currently serve as a co-chaplain for an NWSL soccer team. I’m excited to pray on and implement persistence in a new way to include a long-range focus with practical expectations. I’m not sure that I’ve considered this principle in this way, and desire for those involved with the team to be cared for in a more consistent way. In finishing my first year in this role, and moving into year two, I can improve by not looking past people. I will be more intentional to make myself available to those with whom I have less involvement, giving God the opportunity to open doors.

Yes, as an Associate Chaplain at Colgate University, beginning this year, I will be focusing 12-15 hours a week on supporting Colgate athletics. I have already received invites to meet with the teams, and one team has asked me in for a weekly devotional after the team dinner.

I’m not currently in sports ministry, though my heart goes out to players who may not know God as lord and saver.
My prayer for Britney Griner is that she accepts Jesus Christ as lord in her life or rededicates her life back to the lord. While in a dark place. I hope many people are praying for her salvation now, and the lord knows she requires encouragement.
