Being Roman kept him from some persecution, being Jewish helped him witness to Jews

In 1 Timothy 1:15, Paul writes “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.”
Paul was a Pharisee – he grew up and lived trying to earn salvation through following the law. His radical conversion from being an enemy of Christians to a Holy Spirit-filled Christ-follower shows that God can save anyone – no one is “too far gone.” Paul recognized his need for a Savior, could relate to the Jews because he knew the law, grew up with the law and came to recognize the inadequacy of it, so he could preach the message of Christ and how Christ changed and saved him.

Paul could relate to both Jewish and Gentile groups. He was a Roman citizen as well, which assisted him in his trials and in being able to share the gospel with important leaders. Paul knew the Jewish customs, he was intellectually trained, and he put all of his upbringing to use in his travels.

He was able to use his conversion story to show the transformative power of Christ.

After Paul changed his life and became a Christian, his background helped him a lot. He was a Pharisee, which meant he knew a lot about Jewish laws and the Bible. This knowledge helped him explain Jesus to other Jews.
Paul was also a Roman citizen, so he could travel freely and share his message in many places. He spoke different languages, which helped him connect with people from different cultures. His past experiences as a persecutor of Christians made him passionate about spreading the love of Jesus. So, his background helped him tell many people about God in a powerful way!
