As a Roman citizen, he was able to escape some prison and beatings. He used his Old Testament knowledge to reason with Jewish Rabbis that challenged his teachings.

He was well versed in the Hebrew Scriptures and could talk knowledgeably about them, and his Roman citizenship gave him a status that a Hebrew would not have. This allowed him to speak to both Jews and gentiles.

Paul was born into a Jewish family in a Gentile city. He enjoyed the privileges of Roman citizenship as his family had attained Roman citizenship; this helped him in his missionary ministry. God used all the pieces of his background to prepare him for and help him to carry out his life mission.
