Are there people in your group who do not wish to participate in prayer time? How do you handle that?

This is an issue that I do not force. I believe that prayer is so important that people should not feel forced to pray publicly. Sometimes public prayer is about wanting to sound good — or at least just getting through it. I would ask ALL to pray and those that want to pray publicly are welcome to and those that want to pray silently have that freedom as well. They are both important.

I just let them be. I don’t want to force them and want them to feel comfortable in the space. I believe that when they feel comfortable and safe enough, they will participate.

I encourage this person to start their prayer with a simple scripture (Psalm 23:1)…I also pray that God will change their heart about prayer

No, however, if they were, I’d just ask for individuals to initiate the prayer and all would pray with them as well. Or then switch up at times to have each pray and we all touch and agree as one.

Yes. I usually say they do not have to pray if they are not comfortable.

I feel that people need to learn to pray, especially in church. Sometime silent pray can work. God says that he knows our heart. (Jer 17:10)
