I thought I was. The 10th graders now learned their rebellious ways and changed the past two years. They changed as I changed my discipline method from harshness to gentleness and mercy. However, when I met a new group of students last year, gentleness did not work. In fact, gentleness and mercy led to more rebels. I am currently confused what do to.

Yes!!!!! When students lose patience or become frustrated, it is a great time to bring them back to the cross. By reminding them, that the only perfect person was Jesus and that we have to give each other and ourselves grace over and over again.

yes I am. I think that redemption is a necessary component in multiple facets of life. If Jesus redeems us then we need to model that same redemption to our students in showing grace, compassion, and forgiveness.

I hope that I am “a teacher of redemption” as I confront misbehavior, but also show forgiveness. I strive to be more kind and gentle, speaking softly. I often fail. I am the type of person who likes to start fresh with each encounter and I usually do not keep a grudge. I do not like to put a guilt trip on my own children or my students. I have a long way to being Christlike and showing the best way for the child to improve.

Absolutely. Each day is a fresh start. I don’t want my kids stuck in a bad spot and feel like they can never earn a chance back to start over.
