I am. I have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and understand (in part until heaven) the glory of it all. I seek to bring the idea that through Jesus and His power, we can have a loving, dynamic relationship with our holy God and do what He wants us to do, even if it’s just persevering through a difficult Math unit or reconciling after an ugly disagreement with a classmate. This is the true and best way to live.

Yes, I feel as though I am. However, I also feel as though I could do a better job of this. Time is hard to find in education, I struggle to find time to give each situation the time it deserves in a day. My hope is that I can channel what was brought up in this lesson’s video to really focus on students and love them the way Christ loves us all.

I sure hope so! I know I mess up at times, but pray that my teaching is characterized as redemptive in nature. I want to be nurturing, use disciplinary situations as positive teaching opportunities, believe that student can learn and grow, and model the love of Christ. It is important that I take time to reflect of the events of each day and think about how I responded. When I didn’t do my best, this can be a learning opportunity for me!

I am definitely a “teacher of redemption” and like to not only address it with my students but will also use examples of my life and when I have needed redemption to actions and reactions. Typically with my younger students, we will reflect on the way we react to certain situations and then we will show redemption by going through how we should handle it in the future.

Yes, I believe I am a teacher of redemption because I point every student to Jesus Christ. I tell them, “He is the one who saved me, though I was the foremost of all sinners, and He is the one who can save you if you turn from sins and trust in Him alone.” I seek to model that in my interactions, showing grace to those who have sinned and asking for forgiveness when I have sinned. Similarly, I attempt to present Christ in every lesson, calling students to see, treasure, and follow Him.
