When students make mistakes, I try to encourage them that these are there to help them learn and grow. If student’s fail an assignment and are able to make corrections, I help them to do so. In these ways, I help them to feel redemption in their academics.

Yes, or at least I try to be. My practice definitely needs more refining. One way I do this is to allow test corrections that students can complete for full credit. This removes the punitive nature of tests and grading and allows students to participate in the practice of redeeming their scores.

I believe it’s a goal we all desire, but one that takes discipline and intentionality each day. ….. basically, it’s a work in progress with the guidance, nudging and at times, conviction of the Holy Spirit.

Yes, I try to be, but I recognize how much more work I need to put in. My classroom must emulate Christ.

I thought I was, until I took this lesson. I know now I have been too ‘mean’. I will ensure my attitude and my spirit is redemptive from now on, since I represent Christ in the classroom. I have made a decision to not be harsh with them anymore, but to encourage them to make the right choices in a Christlike manner.
