By the Grace of God I am. I will always show them mercy when they get into trouble and guide them to improve from bad behavior. I make effort to model a redemptive teacher before my students through my own actions. Being kind, forgiving, gentle, and merciful.

I certainly try. I make sure to apologize and seek forgiveness when I sin so that I model that. If I get upset and speak harshly, I make sure to go back and speak about why I was upset and make sure the student understands I love them and want what’s best for them. Discipline is about correction not punishment.

I am learning more and more to show grace to my students. I take a lot of things personally and see their failure as my failure, but I have to realize that we all make mistakes and grace is allowed to be shown to our students.

I am not a teacher that shames their students when they make a poor choice. I’m quick to point out that we all make mistakes. The goal is to learn from those mistakes so we don’t repeat them. It’s important for kids to not only be forgiving, but see others be forgiving towards them. It’s important that they know what it feels like to be forgiven so they may be quicker to forgive others.

I try really hard to give grace whenever I can. I love restoration, and I try to model that in how I interact with my students.
