Absolutely. Redemptive love from Jesus is key and something we must extend to others.

I believe so. I give grace to my students as needed, but sometimes I can be reactionary instead of responsive. I need to work on that.

I try to be with the aid of the Holy Spirit. I have actually been told by other teachers (at a different school) that I was too easy on my students when it came to giving them second chances on their grades, homework, etc. My current administrator reminded me that loving grace is what is found and taught in the Bible, not a “no second chances” environment. That helped me so much to realize that I wasn’t a failure as a teacher, but was in fact showing the love and mercy of Christ in my grading practices and by not holding grudges against my students. I hope this encourages someone else struggling with a similar situation. Please don’t misunderstand, rules and procedures are important for the safety and learning of students, but so is grace and mercy. Praise God that He has given me chance ,after chance, after chance, when I mess up, I hope to give the same to my students!

Yes, I think so. I try to give students redemptive grace and redemptive opportunities. I tried to demonstrate redemptive love to my students the way God demonstrated his redemptive love for me, looking not only to their sin, but to their value and potential as image bearers.

I am trying. I believe I have a better grasp after reading “Teaching Redemptively”
