I have found that there are times where I have been too harsh with a student or had to simply allow the consequences to play out because it seemed like the only option left for the student. When I have failed a student I have sought forgiveness to repair the relationship. My patience can run thin at times.

For some reason they think that if I have to confront the parent or the student that I am going to hold that against them and treat them with disdain. I always have to reassure them that I don’t hold grudges, all is forgiven, and each course period or each day is new.

If a student is willing to put in the effort, I will work with them to make sure that they can pass the course. The student’s grade should not rely on one bad grade or missed opportunity and should reflect the work of the entire year or semester.
