    There are many more examples of Fasting and praying we can find in Scriptures. Some ie.–Nehemiah 1:4 “So it was , when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days: I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven” In Ezra 8:23 “So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and he answered our prayer. Psalm 35:13 David said ,But as for me, “when they were sick I humbled myself with fasting: and my prayer would return to my own heart.

    Moses Fasted Before Receiving the Commandments – Deuteronomy 9:9-18
    David Mourning His Child’s Illness – 2 Samuel 12:1-23
    Elijah Fasted While Escaping Jezebel – 1 Kings 19:4-8
    Ezra Fasted While Mourning Over Sin – Ezra 10:6-17
    Esther Fasted for the Safety of the Jews – Esther 4:15-17

    There are different types of fasting in the Bible. There is limiting yourself to a specific kind of food (Daniel 1:8–14). There is fasting from food entirely (Daniel 10:2–3). There is fasting from food and water (Luke 4:2; Acts 9:9). There is also “fasting” from a certain activity, such as a husband and wife abstaining from sex for a predetermined period (Exodus 19:15; 1 Corinthians 7:5).

    Moses fasted when receiving the ten commandments; King David fasted for his child’s healing; King Johasophat fasted for protection from invasion; Esther fasted for protection for God’s people; Daniel fasted for God’s mercies; Ezra fasted for traveling mercies; Jesus fasted in the wilderness; and the early church fasted for Paul and Barnabas’ first missionary journey.
