As you reflect on Christ as the Head and the church as the body, what insights come to mind?

So, the head would be the leader and director, and the church as the body is how we get nourished through the Holy spirit.

Insights that come to mind as I reflect on Christ as the Head and the church as the body is that we are all connected to one another by His Spirit and we’re commanded to love one another. Some people focus all their energy on taking care and loving their own bodies is what is hitting me sharply, a person like that can be selfish or can be great at helping others to learn to care and love about their bodies as well.

When I think of headship, I think of the head of a household, or of a company, or the “head” coach of a team. Ultimately, they are responsible and the others under their “headship” are asked to trust and follow their lead. This is not often easy to do, but when the Head is Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, we truly can trust Him and then follow in faith. Together, as the body, or teammates, we work together to help one another in fulfilling our individual roles and when we cooperate together, to accomplish all that we need to do to glorify the head.

I liked what William says about us following the body and how it amounts to nothing good, but in following the Head we are lead into being useful in His purposes, building His church through us and it will have eternal value.

As Christ is the head of the church, He has control and the body should fall into place and obey what He has given us to do. As the head of the body Jesus knows what is best for the body and He will only guide the body in the right direction that is pleasing to God.
