The church is made up of imperfect followers of Christ, each with God-given gifts that together make up the body. Each body part (follower of Jesus) should be working together with one another to follow the head (Christ) in righteousness and making disciples. If we are comparing ourselves to one another, jealous of one another, quarrelling with one another, then we are hindering our purpose and calling.

I think about the scripture that says Jesus prayed we would be one with God, just as he was! It is also a reminder of the way we should treat other Christians. Harming a fellow brother or sister in Christ is like harming ones own body.

The body moves in ways the head tells it to. It is (or should be) the same for the church. The church should follow Christ’s leading and example so that she can be witness to unbelievers and an encouragement to believers.
