As you reflect on Christ as the Head and the church as the body, what insights come to mind?

As the body we need to focus on the head.

The head being the center of thought, sight, understanding, taste, smell, hearing, speaking, covering, belief, imagination, creativity. The body following the guidance of the head.

We belong to Christ. He is the head of our life. We should follow what he says. We are not independent of Him.

We need to always be under the head and under the authority of Christ, but also know that we play a part in God’s plan and not try to do it all, but just where our strengths are and what/where He has called us.

The way Scripture paints the picture of Christ as the head of the church and the church as the body help me see a clearer picture of how we are to operate as believers. Just as our brain signals for everything the body does, believers in the church are to look to the Lord for direction and work together in life & ministry. I also love how this example is also carried over into God’s design for relationships where the man is the head/leader of the household (Ephesians 5:21-33).
