As you reflect on Christ as the Head and the church as the body, what insights come to mind?

Deleted User04/08/2023 at 05:13It tells me that since Christ is the Head, we must look to him for direction and submit to his leadership. It also implies that Christ is the source of all we need. Hence we must not think of doing “church things” with our natural strengths.
Since the body has many varying, yet complementary parts, the church as Christ’s body tells me that we must accept people of different backgrounds, social standing, etc., and not just cluster around people of like nature. Moreover, we must work hard and adjust to let our differences serve to be mutually complementary. In this way, a church of different people, with different backgrounds and different spiritual gifts, becomes a more enriching community and a more powerful spiritual force, than a church of homogeneous membership. -

Deleted User04/05/2023 at 10:07This reminds me of mental healthcare and how US society has tended to separate the head-health from whole body health. Just as Christ’s headship and His body, the whole church, is connected, so are ours.

Deleted User02/09/2023 at 15:56I don’t always need visuals to grasp a concept, but if this is helpful to others, this is good. As for my thoughts about this model, the head is the brain which controls all functions of the body. Ergo, Christ. The functions of the body are then performed by the parts, ergo members of the church.
