As you reflect on Christ as the Head and the church as the body, what insights come to mind?

With Christ as the head of the body for the church’s mission, each member has their role to carry out (some as teachers, others as leaders, some as servants, many in different mission field capacities, some with gifts of healing and the gift of prophecy…) then the work of the church can be distributed according to one’s unique gifts and talents to serve its goal of reaching the world for Christ.

As members of the same body, we each have a different function and purpose, which when working together, build up and edify Christ and draw each closer to God and to those within the body.

I am to respond to Jesus by doing my best to live as he did and do that within the church body. Not only do what Jesus said, however, also live the way he lived life. He is our Head and we are called, as His followers, to live a sanctified life as we journey with Him and other believers.

in times past I have witnessed , the body of the church , go out and witness to neighboring communities .

Without the head, the body cannot function or even live. This is a matter of Lordship, Jesus is Lord and we are His hands and feet who are called to come together in seeking Him, growing in Him and serving Him together.
