It shows his authority and dominion ultimately over us as individuals and as a whole. He is the master mind behind everything and is in charge of what we follow.

This makes me view Christ as our Master who instructs the body on what to do. It gives me encouragement to know that I do not have to come up with solutions on my own. Instead, I can look to Jesus to provide for me and the church.

For me, what comes to mind is how our physical bodies function. Our brain is the most important organ in our body. It controls other parts in our body. With Christ being the Head means He is the brain. The church is us, which we are the body. We are all the other organs that work with the brain( Jesus Christ the Head) and together we are the Church. Without the Head, we cannot function properly.

The brain makes the decisions but the body must carry out the directions from the brain. It is a co-laboring situation.

The body is supposed to follow what the head does without any problems. The only time the body fails to follow the head is when there is a disease. In our case, the disease that keeps us from following the head is sin. Our medicine is repentance.
