What impressed me the most is that they spoke with the Living God Jesus and were enlightened by His teaching them the Word about what the Messiah should experience to then come into His glory. Sometimes throughout the day, you come across a person who is open to having a conversation just like Jesus did with the two travelers and such conversation could profoundly change someone’s life and faith.

Jesus wants us to tell Him our concerns as we process our experiences. He is interested and invested in the details of our lives. It is an amazing opportunity we have to fellowship with and seek guidance from Him throughout the day through prayer.

What impressed me is how Jesus came into a conversation already in the works, and started the process of showing them the answer to what they were trying to make sense of. They had not gone to God in prayer, but God showed up where they were, in their conversation.

He never leaves us and knows our every need. It makes sense to talk, ask, share, confess and give thanks as we move through our day. It’s so easy to get lost and distracted from the plans He has made for us. Connecting with Him all day is an amazing blessing.

In Luke 24, it is through their ongoing dialogue with Jesus as they went about their day that they went from not recognizing who he was to suddenly seeing him in their troubled circumstances. The same is true for us. As we dialogue with Jesus through reading his word and responding in prayer to his word, we begin to have a glimpse into his character. We begin to perceive what he’s doing amidst our struggles.
