First, I noticed how Jesus encouraged the two to open up. He sort of “played dumb” regarding what had happened. But this encouraged the two to talk.
Second, Jesus helped them understand, and explained the prophesies.
Third, I noticed how the two disciples sensed something wonderful about this mysterious stranger; how they desired His comforting presence. That is kind of how prayer is, in that we gain such comfort when we feel the Lord drawing close to us.
Finally, Jesus revealed Himself by repeating something very significant. In this case, by the breaking of bread as in the communion. It reminds me of how Jesus revealed Himself to Mary by speaking her name (linking this to the Good Shepherd discourse and how Jesus says He calls His sheep by name, and His sheep hear His voice.) Jesus’s interactions with His loved ones is always so tender and compassionate.

It makes sense. If you share a house with some one you don’t speak to them intensely during a particular time or part of the day.. You chat to them throughout the day. So you should do the same wiht talkning to God.

In those days groups of people walked together and it wasn’t unusual that someone would come up along you and start talking. This was the third day after Jesus death and it was prophesied but they didn’t recognize Him.

It’s actually something I do now. I talk to God constantly throughout the day. I commune with Him in my home, my car and in worship at church. I find my thoughts are on Him in many moments throughout the day. When I meet adversity, it’s as if I immediately think about God or if I’m in certain scenarios I find my self asking, “What would God have me to do?”.
