Now, I would say a good leader takes you from where you were to where you were not.

Before this lesson, I would probably have said that “A good leader leads a group of people to be productive and successful in their profession.”

Before this lesson I taught leadership is more about getting higher in position and title and what they must do. the lesson reminded me that leadership is not about title but rather about action of being and doing. that as a leader the goal is to make the team better individually and as a group while achieving and getting to the desired goal.

I would have said a leader has good management skills who also lead by example. I now include that goal setting and delegating to reach new heights and accomplishments are also necessary.

A good leader gets in the trenches with those that he or she leads and demonstrates initiative to do the work that others are often unwilling to do.
