Before this lesson, how would you have described what a good leader does? How would you describe what a good leader does now?

Serving is a key element to leading. It’s the engine that makes all the pieces of the vehicle work together to reach a desired destination.

I would have said that a leader leads by serving, encouraging, motivating, and being present in their lives. After hearing and reading the lecture, I would also say that a leader moves people from where they are to a better place. An effective leader also asks the right questions: Who am I leading? Where am I leading them? How long is this going to take? What will this look like when we get there? Leadership is action and not just words.

A good leader motivates people to do what they don’t want to do so that they can achieve what they say that they want to achieve. A good leader now takes people to a place of improvement. They do so by example and serving others.

A good leader takes people to a place of improvement. How they lead may change, but the results do not change.

I think so often we define a leader as someone who is in a leadership role. Truth is, anybody can be a leader. Like this lesson said, anyone who is helping someone get to a better place is a leader.
