Can you describe how each step builds on the previous one?

I relate this to diagnosing issues on a vehicle. Before you can apply a solution to the issue, you must understand the affected systems. Even the verification of a concern is not as simple as seeing that the headlights are not on. You must observe deeper to understand how they actually turn on, what harnesses, connectors, switches, and modules are involved. You must correctly and accurately interpret both your findings and the service information in order to make a good diagnosis. In a similar way, we must fully understand what we read in the Bible. Who wrote this and to whom was it written? Why did they write this and why did they choose the words that they chose? What message did they intend for me to get out of this?

you first have to observe something before you can interpret the information – much like the buying a used bicycle example in the course. You also cannot apply something you have not interpreted the meaning of first.

You cannot interpret what you have observed, and you cannot apply what you have not seen done.
-
You can’t have practical application without Interpretation. and you can’t have a correct interpretation without good observation.

I appreciated the bicycle analogy in the course. Observing is simply noticing the thing as a whole, whereas interpreting is taking a closer look at each part and evaluating it further. Application is taking the knowledge or information gained in observing and interpreting and putting it into practice.
