Can you see Dr. MacCullough’s guiding questions being valuable to you in creating biblically integrated units/lessons? How do you envision implementing them in your planning process?

I will start by using the bible to answer all the guiding questions, ensuring that I have verses of scripture to back them up. The next important step is to write a biblical-based assessment of the principle being addressed and a lesson objective as well as an assessment of the lesson objective, this will help me drive the unit with appropriate lesson plans.

In the public school world, this idea of guiding questions are referred to as essential questions. Students were given the essential question at the start of the unit. We would refer back to that essential question throughout the unit. Dr. MacCullough’s guiding questions are that much more valuable as they relate back to Biblical principles. I plan to implement them by referring to this list as I work on my curriculum map.

I think they will be a helpful reference while I plan my lessons. I’ve already been using them (unknowingly to some extent) in my preparations. As I see concepts that I can explore from a biblical perspective, I make sure to incorporate time to do so in my lesson plans. As a result, these questions are being answered.

The guiding questions would be valuable. I would implement them by answering them according to the Bible and using that answer to frame the lessons.

In middle school, I don’t teach a lot of abstract concepts answering deep metaphysical questions. But in presenting a lesson with established facts, I can ask questions about how the bible treats the topic. For example, when studying genetics, I can present evidence that supports the bible’s claims that life begins at conception and that humans are intricately made by an Intelligent Creator. When studying the cosmos, my students can learn about all the tools we use to observe heavenly bodies, their predictability and other properties. This can answer the question about natural reality and how we can know it as true and not just in our imagination.
