I recently had a faith discussion with a JW believer, our discussion turned to John 1:1 (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God) as I wanted to focus on the diety of Jesus as I knew their NWT version says “the Word was A God” making their Jesus a little god. With the little information I had regarding JW doctrine I challenged them on their inter linear translation from the Greek and they later sent me a scripted rebuttal. The positive is they gave me their mobile number and I have sent them many Gospel texts (they’ve since stopped replying). I hope a seed has been planted, I came from love while trying to attempt to give them a reason for the hope that is within me.
God bless

For me, I seem to come across people who are completely non-believers. They believe in science and say that God does not exist, it’s all made up fantasy. I’m here because I’ve been called to be able to defend our Lord . I want to be a warrior of truth and boldly and courageously tell them the truth. I find I just don’t have the right words yet.

Yes, I remember when I was 15 years old, going on a car trip from one city to another in Italy. The trip was about 8 hours driving. In the middle of the journey, I remember one of my teammates telling me that I knew she was an atheist. “It is impossible that your God could be bigger than nature” The landscape we saw was perfect. The trees seemed custom-made so that they all measured the same. There were different shades of green and flowers of various types. And in my innocence and not knowing exactly how to defend my faith, I just told him, “I don’t see how you can believe that there isn’t someone who made nature, someone who cares for the trees so that they have that perfection, that symmetry and those colors. “

Yes, I teach in a Christian, international school in Kyoto, Japan, and I am often asked questions regarding my faith in Christ. Earlier this year, a middle school student asked me why there were so many sufferings in the world – if there was really a God to exist. During my Bible courses, I had opportunities to respond to the big question. As my answer – through a few days of lessons, I explained to the course (including the young man) that God gave us free will to make decisions in life. We are not like robots. In spite of God’s will for us to live according to His will – to love Him and our neighbors, we have made wrong decisions that are contrary to His will and purposes. Then the creation, the fall of man (Genesis 1-3 as the cause of sufferings in the world), God’s call for us to repent and receive His forgiveness, and our purposes to live according to His will were explained. That was a big topic to cover, and the students seemed to positively accept my explanations on the fundamentals of Christian faith.

Yes, many times actually, as being a pastor, i got to be asked many questions that i should defend my faith. One time i remember even my own son asked me if God exist and that if He exist why there is so much suffering. SO, i tried to explain of who God is, that He is love, and He created mankind in his image, and in that sense God will give freedom of will to mankind. In that freedom of will, mankind will choose to do bad things instead of good. God will not cancel nor stop that decision because He has given mankind that freedom of will. It took a while for me to explain to my son. He got it but i think He is still processing that in his mind among other things.
