I had a co-worker that sees things in black and white, no middle ground. So in challenging my belief and my commitment to church, I explained to him an encounter and challenged him to prove to me it was anyone/anything else other than God. He was never able to do so and continued to ask more about my faith walk. We have had several wonderful discussions since.

While working at a part-time job, my co-workers asked about God after hearing of distressing news. I told them God has a plan for everyone’s life and He wants them to live life to the fullest if they would only repent and believe in Him. This short interaction led to other conversations later on.

In the past I worked in Prison Ministry here in the state of New Mexico. There were numerous times that I was approached with this the question of; Why do I believe what I believe. One such time was with an inmate that was incarcerated with possession and distribution of drugs. This particular individual professed to be a devout Muslim. Not wanting to denigrate his faith, I asked him; “what Islam taught him about representing a Holy lifestyle”. He found it difficult to answer that question because much of what Islam meant to him, was obeying rules of his faith. I also asked this individual; “what does Allah promise you, as a faithful servant, will be your rewards in the afterlife as you know it.” I then told him that it sounded to me that his faith was based more on what he could do for Allah, than what Allah could do for him. I then explained that nothing I could do for God placed me in a position of holiness on my own deeds. On the contrary, until I believed that only Jesus Christ could justify me before God, through his sacrifice of death on the cross, to pay for my sins. My good works were nothing but dirty rags to God because of my sins. That sacrifice of the death of Jesus on the cross and, the resurrection back to life three days latter, was well documents to hundreds of eye witnesses. The promise of eternal life for me through accepting that salvation through my own admission of being a sinner in need of a savior was the only work that was required by God to me. The moment of I made that decision included the indwelling of the Holy Spirit into my body, and began the knowledge that I could never show God the amount of love for Him that He showed for me.

I have yet to experience that. I pray I have the words that would cause a desire for Christ in the hearer.
