There have been several occasions over the years of my Christian walk where I have been challenged about my faith. I served in the Royal Navy for 25 years and living as a Christian in a mess deck with lots of other sailors is a challenge in itself. There were times on deployment where I was sometimes challenged and asked about my faith. If the question was asked by one or two of my ship mates that was not always a problem , but if there were many in the mess at the time then sometimes it could get out of hand and sometimes many questions were asked that I could not answer .

Early in my walk, I had an encounter with a Muslim. I was not very prepared, and that encounter shook me up. It was at that time that I realized that I had to equip myself to defend the faith. I was able to have a similar conversation later in my life and I was able to present truth to the individual. I have since gone on to utilize apologetics in my evangelistic efforts.

Every day as a Christian Scholar I would be challenged in faith and temptation of why I believed in the word of Christ? I instantly would freeze up not knowing what to say cause I always heard to never turn another away from their church. Now knowing within this lesson to approach with gentleness, and a heart of persuasion I can carefully research the topics given to gift another on a more sustainable answer to my belief.

I remember my oldest sister asking me why I believe.
I did not have an answer for her that was appropriate for where she was at and for how she needed a factual and well delivered. My sister is a college graduate from a liberal school. -
When I was in elementary school, believe it or not, I had a teacher who would question my family’s religion. She was a Baptist, and we attended what was called “The Worldwide Church of God”. We did not eat pork, we kept the Saturday Sabbath & the Lord’s Feast Days. She said, “Don’t you know that Jesus did away with all that Old Testament stuff?” I didn’t know how to defend my beliefs, I was probably 7 or 8 years old. I should have told her to call my parents & ask them as they were better versed in these topics…I remember she did this to me on several occasions and she managed to make me feel self-conscience about my beliefs. I’m happy to be taking this course. Maybe now I will be confident enough to respond to people who question me in this manner in the future. I’m hoping to gain the confidence needed to tell people about Christ & what He has done for me & my family. I love the Lord so much & I just yearn to do His will so that I might hear Him say to me, “Well done, good & faithful servant,” after I pass on from this world.
