Yes, my sister works with children she sees children who are neglected abused and rebellious. So when I told her I was born again last year, she asked me “if I was feeling okay” did I drink some sort of kool aid and the question everyone gets if There is a God why do bad things happen. I was new in my faith then so I have to admit I stumbled a lot referenced some scripture in Romans. She told me not to speak to her about god and don’t bring it up to my kids.

My son was concerned as to why I excepted Christ when I turned 70 years old. I share with him I was in search of the truth in this messed up world. and when my 15 year granddaughter asked me if I had a relationship with Jesus I was embarrassed to say know. I have been walking with Him since that day 9 years ago.

I am married to a non believer. We have conversations regularly about the subject.

When I tried to mention Jesus to my uncle who is my mom’s older brother (90+), the first thing he responded to my conversation is the history of Crusades (crusading violence). Because I do not understand well about this part of the history, it has so many details and the cause of it is quite complicated (at least to me). I didn’t know how to respond. Instead, I tried to bring up more about God’s love and God’s other characteristics.

Our boys were raised going to church. I do think they believe but they do not have a relationship. They ask questions occasionally about why my wife and I believe what we believe. We lead a life reflecting scriptures hoping one day they understand and want a relationship with the Lord. We must always give them living words (scripture) to live by with compassion and love.
