Desires that conflict in this battle are living to avoid tension, living for good times, productive work, and self preservation avoiding pain and suffering too deeply that could be the catylist for change. The New Covenant has introduced a reality into the human soul that sets up the holy tension that it then relieves with four provisions.

Holy tension is a deep spirit lead disturbance int he soul or an attitude to be unfrozen by distress before it could shift(secular). When I am aware of myself and how I long to be.

The battle between what I was designed to be and what I long to be as a follower of Jesus and the person that I am (my present reality)

“Holy tension” is what the Apostle Paul felt in Romans 7. He knows what he should be like because of the love of Christ, but sin still battles in the flesh – that is the conflict. Thankfully, the love of Christ, His forgiveness of sin, and the freedom that comes in the forgiveness allows us to know or face the tension, but Christ’s freedom is more attractive at the soul level then the prison of sin.
