As an educator there is many times you may be discouraged with a student’s progress. I have a student who is struggling with reading and is not on the level that is needed in second grade. She is a very good auditory learner, but if you hand things over to her to do she can not complete due to not able to read. This gets frustrating and we have had meetings with the parents and to see what they thought about her going back to first grade. We had mom on board, but dad did not want this to happen due to it being in the last of the first quarter and feels that it would not be a good thing for her with her peers. We as a Coworker family will continue to pray and work with her and in hopes that we can get her to where she needs to be at the end of the year.

This year, in the 6th grade I have a student who is struggling both academically and with his identity. He was adopted at around 7 years old, and will not speak about his past before adoption. He recently asked for prayer because he has “sleep paralysis” and a dark figure approaches him while he is frozen at night and can not move. He opened up about how he watches horror movies as well.
Taking him aside privately, I talked to him about how horror movies have opened the door to the demonic and that is why he is being attacked in his sleep. I explained how the Bible says, “Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee”, but that it needs to be in that order.
This student claims to be a Christian, but has not had the role models of Christ-followers at home. Although there has not yet been much change, I see a difference when I spend a few moments here and there talking with him. He is beginning to know he can trust me.

I have a student that won’t listen to what I’m asking and is willfully not trying to succeed. No, still waiting.

I have a student who seems to be a nominal Christian with “Sunday School answers” to questions that arise in course about morality or faith. His days are numbered in the Christian school environment, as his parents have decided to withdraw him soon. I’m concerned about his growth opportunities outside our school. God’s plan WILL prevail; I will pray for his growth.

I have a student who really needs salvation but won’t take Christianity seriously. I keep praying for her and suggesting verses she could think about, but I haven’t seen a change yet. I will keep thinking of ways to encourage her to seek God.
