While I do my best to pray for every one of my students on a consistent basis, there is one particular student who I often had on my mind to pray for. Throughout the school year, I saw a lot of positive change! It was so awesome to observe, yet I was waiting for the child to come and tell me he accepted Christ or ask me how to accept Christ. This never happened. At church one Sunday I was reminded that seeds are planted and I may never see the fruit, but I need to trust God. It is all God’s work, I need not be prideful. I am still learning this.

This year I had a student that struggled academically and emotionally. At the start of school it was evident that he needed more intervention and reinforcements than other students. I prayed for him continually and prayed with him daily. By the end of the year I saw astronomical growth in him academically, emotionally and spiritually. I will get him again this upcoming school year as I am moving up a grade and can’t wait to see him progress as a follower of Christ and as a student of mine.

I am a middle school teacher and this last year was a difficult one for many of the students. They are struggling with big issues. We had several very open discussions about the issues and implemented several actions to address the issues…not with the results I had wanted. I trust that seeds were planted and that the Lord is at work, but I really want to see big changes this coming year. Many of the same students will be with me, and I am looking for ideas to help the situations. I think the learning that I am getting thorough these modules will be beneficial.

This past year I had a student who was new to our school. I knew her parents were believers, but not sure how much they lived out their faith and how much this sweet girl knew about salvation. I felt it was a privilege to teach her more about God’s word as she had told me she was not saved and did not know what it had meant. It was exciting to watch over time how she began to soak in the lessons and Biblical truths that were presented in course. At the end of the year she was offering to pray regularly for her classmates. It was encouraging to see this, but it was frustrating as I was not sure of how much she truly understood. I know that the Lord is still working her life and lives of her family members. I am still waiting for a change to occur, but I know that I played a small part in her learning about the truth that she was created in the image of the Lord and He loves her more than she can image.

I can recall two students who I caught cheating early on in the year. This was my fist year teaching so I was very surprised this happened at a Christian school and even with students who were at the end of their high school journey. I was really pleased with their progress throughout the year. One student and I developed a relationship, to the point where they want to come visit me on the first day of my course next year. The other student continued to struggle in my course, but I was very pleased they did not cheat anymore and just did as best as they could and asked me for help.
