There was a challenging student that I had worked with in the past. This student had a hard time on different days in the classroom. Over time I tried some things to help this student, and I did see some changes. I do feel that we are still waiting to see more change to occur.

I had a student who was very lazy and refused to do work. He was absolutely capable, he just didn’t feel like doing what was expected of him, and he played the victim in all social and academic situations. His mother would act like she was on board with what his teachers were trying to do (instill resilience, encourage him, hold him accountable), but she ultimately chose the easy way, gave up the “fight,” and removed him from school in order to “homeschool” him. I still pray for that student (and his family).

I had a student who struggles with ADHD and she continually had issues with other students. She struggles to get her work completed and is often off task. After a few months of really struggling I met with her parents to talk about what could be done. It was such a
Wonderful conversation where I had the opportunity to highlight what a gift she was from Christ. She made huge strides in a positive direction by the end of the year.

The behavior this past year in our school has been a challenge, praying and our chapels have allowed us to see a difference in some of our students.

There is a student I have poured much time and care into who showed fruit for awhile, but turned away. Much of her turning away was because her parents were giving a contrary message at home. While it is discouraging to know that what we are teaching at school is being countered at home, God is faithful and can use one to move many.
