Being an understanding ear to listen, and using wisdom from the Bible helps. Prayer is also a huge part. Sometimes it takes a while.

A young lady who will be in 6th grade this year. She is confused about her orientation and is misguided on her mother’s side of the family. We see small changes, then setbacks, however, we are still praying and working with her.

I have been discouraged with my student but I have prayed for him and seen a positive outcome.

Because I’ve been teaching for a long time, I’ve seen many students over the years who don’t seem to understand the gospel, even after they have heard it repeatedly. I have seen some come to saving faith, and I continue to pray for others who have not yet come to trust Christ for salvation. It is a lesson in itself that our efforts are out of obedience to God; it is the Holy Spirit who does the real saving work in our students.

I was a Christian educator in a public middle school for many years. I have had more than one student in random encounters that have revealed that they now realize how much of a “jerk” they were in my class, or how all along my teaching partner and I were speaking truth to them. This does not relate to passing along my faith, but it has resonated with me. I cannot know what will transpire later on, and I must plant the seed.
