I found that a very bright and articulate young lady was struggling with personal control issues in the classroom and that this appeared to be affecting her academic success. Through bible based interventions she made much progress over the course of the year.

There are several students I am praying for in my middle and high school classes. One young man has been in the academy since lower school. He arrived late for school almost every day, and always entered the room when Bible class was nearly complete. He was defiant against the teachings of our LORD and angry about his family situation. He said his father didn’t care if he failed Bible class. He was in this school because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Many of us have prayed for him for years. Last year, God brought a new teacher to the campus. The teacher is closer to our high school students’ ages and the young men relate to him very well. That teacher has developed a relationship with this young man. I see the student happier than ever before. Now, he gets a ride to school to be on time. And he now comes to church to serve on the video ministry team. I continue to pray that God softens his heart and speaks to him. And I watch and worship as God answers those prayers.

I had a student whose parents were divorced, and one parent was a believer in Christ, and one parent was not a believer. I was her 6th grade teacher, and she was struggling to find her footing in her faith. I shared my Biblical worldview with her, and I taught many Biblical lessons in the classroom throughout the school year. As the year went on, she seemed more and more interested in reading scripture and getting involved in Biblical discussions. I am still not sure where the student stands in relation to her faith and worldview, but I continue to pray that the seeds that I planted will continue to take root and blossom into a faith that will guide her through life and to salvation.

I had a wonderful challenge with an eighth grade, female student. She came from a broken home, her mother was a Christian, her father was abusive and was nit a believer. Therefore, she struggled with her faith. This young lady was mad at the world and didn’t want friends, she didn’t like them. She didn’t even like herself. She challenged me about everything we discussed in our Bible lessons and challenged my husband in history class. My husband and I prayed for her. Finally, one day, she made a disparaging comment to my husband in class. He talked to her after class and told her we have been praying for her and care about her. Summer commenced not long after that incident. When she returned in the fall, she was a new young lady. We found out that she had asked Jesus into her heart! My husband and I did not give up praying for her salvation.

I am still waiting for a change to occur within this student. I will likely have this student again next year as well. We all continue to pray for that student. We recently had a meeting with the student and we shared our hopes for him. I did not see much response from the student, but pray he will turn things around.
